My Wedding Day, Part 1 ♥

This is part 1 of my 2-part series sharing my wedding day and photos. ♥

Hi everyone! After a LONG wait, I’m super excited to be sharing my wedding photos with you! :D It’s a little belated considering I got married last year (2014), but really, better late than never!

I spent the past two days reviewing the materials (there are at least 600 photos from different crews), organizing them, and shortlisting the ones I want to share with you guys. While it’s been eight months since our wedding, just reviewing the media is bringing back memories. Feels as if Ken and I just got married yesterday and I’m just so excited to let you guys in on this special part of my life. :)

If you’re new here, here’s the background on how we met:

Our engagement photoshoot (pre-wedding):

Without further ado, here are our wedding photos. :)

  1. That picture with your parents <3 :D I am going to download that photo!

    • My Choice too. It has that special beauty of two generations intertwined into one giving it a blend of Happiness of the daughter’s marriage and sadness of having to let her fly on her own. It’s so lovely.

That’s such a sweet comment! :D I really love that photo as well! And as I mentioned in the post above, I’ve never seen them smile *THIS* happily my entire life! And I (obviously) couldn’t see their expression when this photo was taken, so it’s really heartwarming to review the photos now and see their expressions in their entirety!

What an absolutely precious picture. What a special moment

  2. The picture of you standing in the window looking over your left shoulder is very artistic. Love it.

These photos brought tears to my eyes, Celes. You both look so beautiful and happy – many, many congratulations!

Sarah, you’re the sweetest angel!! Thank you so much — stay tuned for part 2, I’ll be sharing more photos and possibly videos too!! :)

That gown is gorgeous and needless to say you looked great in it. :) The picture with your parents is so touching. One can tell that you were really happy and that they were really proud of their daughter.

Thank you Lina! :D Yes I love that shot too! They looked really really happy, and I feel so happy to see them so happy! One of my bridesmaids told me that my dad couldn’t stop grinning and beaming that whole day (and he rarely smiles; it’s an older Asian generation thing, not to reveal your emotions).

  5. Ah Celes! <3 I felt excited for you all over again looking through this! I think my favorite one is the very last one, there's just so much emotion there! And I really love the one of Ken, where he's meditating before the ceremony.

Your gown is absolutely gorgeous as well! Well, everything here is! What beautiful photos. A good reminder that a great wedding photographer is a must!

I'm actually not sure what a solemnization is, but I bet it would be interesting to see as either a video or pictures! =D (I've never been to a wedding at all, so I have absolutely no idea about how they work besides what they say in shows/movies/etc.!)

Hey Calae!!! <3 A solemnization is the ceremony where the bride/groom exchange vows, and the Justice of Peace (the official administering the marriage) enacts the process in which the bride/groom become legally married. It's pretty much the essence of any wedding ceremony actually! (Though in Singapore many focus on the Chinese wedding banquet dinner as the essence as opposed to the solemnization itself.)

Thank you so much for your kind words Calae!!! The shots above were taken by three different crews, and I'll be crediting them accordingly in the last part of the series. There were so many nice shots and it was challenging having to pick only some to feature, and even now I hope I didn't miss some good ones to feature on the post! I'll likely be sharing more in a Facebook album later.

You haven't been to a wedding yet?? That's really interesting! How about your cousins, relatives, etc. — have there been no weddings within your extended family in the past years? (Not that it really matter as I think that a wedding where you live is likely quite different from the usual weddings over here. I was in South Africa for a reader's wedding and theirs was quite different from the Singapore ones, even those in Hollywood movies/etc.!)

      • Ooh, thanks for explaining the solemnization! I’m not sure we call it that here, as I believe that’s considered just part of the ceremony (but like I said, I just might not know!) I’d love to see it, though!

And it’s funny, because for me it’s pretty much a case of bad timing. I’m the oldest of my immediate cousins, so none of them are married yet. I have plenty of extended family, but they’re much older than me (and to be honest, I don’t really know most of them at all) so most of them were married before I was born/when I would have been too young to attend. The few “chances” of going to a wedding I may have had (maybe one or two), I was away at school so I couldn’t attend them either. I often joke that the first wedding I attend will be my own. xD

Now that I’m a bit older, some people I know are starting to get engaged, especially the ones a few years older than me, so maybe I’ll get to attend one soon? We shall see!

And seriously, all of your photos are gorgeous! I can’t wait to see everything else you share!

By the way, does your dress have lavender accents or is that just a trick of the light? When/if I eventually get married, I always thought that lavender would probably be one of the colors I use in the theme. =)

          Celes 10 years ago

Hi Calae! I think it’s just the lighting and the photo filter they used — my dress is white. I think the sequins/diamonds also create a multi-color effect though. I think lavender is a gorgeous color!! :D Mine was white/gold themed, as you’ll see from part 2’s photos (with the room, flowers, crockery, etc. though I don’t think there were any specific photos taken with the crockery).

Hey, it may well be that the first wedding you attend will be your own! :D And I think that will be so marvelous! (By the way, I’m actually creating this series and presenting the photos/videos in a way that it’s like you guys are experiencing my wedding too albeit a fraction of it and from an outside view, so I see that as a form of “attendance” to the wedding as well! :D)

          • Ooh I can’t wait to see! I bet the gold is lovely. =) And I’m very thankful to “attend” your wedding this way!

I wasn’t sure what a solemnization was. They might not always be called that here in the UK but we must use that term sometimes because my mum knew what it was, lol.

I’ve never been to a wedding either, Calae. I have two younger cousins in England who aren’t married. My cousin got married last year but he lives in America. It would have been great to go but I got to see some wedding pictures online. He’s from my dad’s side and I have more cousins on that side but I only got in touch with that particular cousin (the one in America) a few years ago and have never met the others. Most of them are older than me too, so quite a few are probably already married and they live in Cameroon or America. My friend from school is engaged but she’s living in Sweden now, so may get married there.

  6. I love all the pictures!!!! You look gorgeous! Love the pictures with your parents!….. I think I like everything about you!! Congratulations! Wish you all the BEST!!!!

  7. Beautiful!

    Gorgeous!

  11. I absolutely loved the picture of you standing with your back to the camera and sideways look! Looks magical and reminds me of those ageless beauties like Audrey Hepburn! Very classy. I’d love to hear your vows. I am not a fan if watching videos on FB. If you would consider adding a picture of your vows as well, I’d appreciate it.

Hi Vidya, thank you so much for your beautiful comment! :D I really love that shot too! I’ll be creating a video with the key highlights and also likely will be including our vows given your requests. I won’t be adding it to Facebook (I’m not a fan of watching videos on Facebook like you) but rather, my Youtube channel). Stay tuned! :D

Beautiful photos! I especially like the ones of you putting on your gown and the one where the dress is “billowing” all around you. (Tried to think of a suitable word!). :) It’s a beautiful dress. And lovely pics of you with your parents too. Thanks for sharing. :)

Beautiful :’) The dress looks really impressive, especially the effect with the tail-part flying around. If swans had tails like peacocks… :)

During the same time,I found your site.I Went through almost all of your articles everyday and it motivated me greatly. Today I have accomplished so much and I can’t believe myself (dance, coding, music, singing, fashion, spiritual) that even my critics are motivated by me. Very few people are reason behind my success and you are one of them. Please continue your work. I am on whole new level. Have a wonderful days ahead…tc
