Has anyone ever read the Alchemist by Paolo Cuelo? Basically there’s this great little story in it about a man who goes to visit the wisest man in the world to learn the secret of happiness. The man teaches him that to be happy you need to enjoy and experience the present, while always keeping one eye on your goals to make sure they’re healthy.
And that’s how I’m going to live my best year ever. I’m going to make sure I’m happy in the moment, but still be aware that all actions have future consequences and make sure I’m always moving towards my goals and developing as a person. So excited for 2013!
It sounds like a good read Helen, you seem to be on the right track. Good luck in 2013!
Thanks Bob :)
the question is do one pretend to be happy?
What do you mean Phobabs?
I will make 2013 my best year ever by building of my successes from 2012. Last year I believe I managed to make my outlook more positive and got more in tune with things that make me happy. I need to do more of the same, while continuing to cut out things that drag me down. Continuing to work on my outlook and improving myself in all areas of my life will help make 2013 an even better success!
Work harder than I ever have and stay positive this is a marathon that I will come out on top of
To live life the way i want to live. If someone says no don’t do this or that, or to try to tell me what i should do and shouldn’t do from their past experience just let them speak their mind. I can choose to listen to their advice or ignore them. I am the one who controls my destiny.
I have to learn on my own to say to myself keep going, or enough is enough.
I am going to do everything I can to focus on what I want instead of what I don’t want.
To make this my best year ever, I’m going to apply all of the lessons I’ve learned this past year as best I can. I’m going to strive to discover my best self and become her. I’m going to take the time to learn things well, and get rid of my problems with procrastination and commitment. I’m going to try learning things through trials to see if they’re actually something I want to learn, so that I don’t feel so disappointed if I stop if it’s not something I love doing. I’m going to continue to forgive myself for the things I’ve done wrong, and start aiming to gain the traits I really want for myself. I’m going to, at every moment, aim to be doing the best I can at that given time. Through self-reflection, where I think most of this boils down to, I hope I can really get to know myself and weed out the worst of myself and grow my best aspects even more, perhaps even gaining some new positive traits along the way.
In short, this is the year I will actually be DOING what I say I want to do, and not just being all talk like I’m prone to be. Even if I only end up doing a little, it’ll be much better than doing nothing at all despite wanting to!
Keep reflecting Alexa, then take action from your insight!
In order to make 2013 the best year ever, I am going to need to do a lot of soul searching. I need to eliminate any bad habits from my life, and replace them with good ones. I honestly don’t have a lot of harm that I do to myself compared to others I see, but the damage I do is great. It would be a smarter move for me to not continue down destructive paths, but instead go for actions that will help me achieve the goals I just set up for myself. I am also going to trust myself and my instincts more. I have a tendency to think the best of people and sometimes they are not the best people. I tend to try and overcompensate in my life for what I don’t have, instead of just working on what I do have. This needs to change in order to make the next year better.
