1. That the world didn’t end last Friday. That would have sucked.
2. That I continue to do well in my return to college. Current GPA 3.93, one more semester to finish my Associate’s degree in IT, and I will be continuing on to get my Bachelor’s.
3. That I am still employed and making decent money, even if the schedule sucks. That part is one reason I’m getting my degree, actually.
4. That I continue to enjoy multiple trooping opportunities, this year and every year, many of them charitable, with the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers.
5. That I’ve found the energy and drive to get off my butt and get working on improving my outlook on life, as of late last month. PE will be a part of this in 2013.
6. Discovering things about myself that I think are responsible for the problems I’ve been having in my marriage. The issues suck – but unless I’d learned about them, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to fix them, and maybe save my marriage.
7. Having a nice, comfortable home, even if it does need what seems like constant expensive repairs.
8. That I’ve also managed to develop at least the start of the energy and drive I need to control my diet and fitness, which ties in with #5 above.
9. Getting in touch with a number of old friends for the first time in years, thanks to Facebook.
10. Finding new online groups of friends, thanks to my beginning to look into what I needed to do to improve myself and my outlook. Everyone needs a support group.
11. Coming to terms with an ugly abuse episode when I was a child, which I’d mostly forgotten about but which I believe damaged my ability to relate to others. I actually met with a counselor several times this year, and just talking about it made what felt like a huge difference.
