I like how you try and "distract yourself" from snacking if it's not on your meal plan, hahaha i'll try this next time.

Hi lime_inthecoconut (I like your user name though, it's cute!)
I do eat small meals but I eat them often, between five to six meals per day. Basically, the pictures that you saw in my journal is the ones that I eat them the most. I change the varieties of the small meals here and there to consist the followings:
1. Fruits & Vegetables
2. Healthy nuts & Healthy seed
3. Healthy oil (Olive Oil, Canola Oil, Sunflower Oil, Flaxseed Oil)
4. Soy Milk, Skim Milk, Tofu
6. Beans (I need to include beans in my meal as well) :D
7. Whole grain (Oatmeal, brown rice). I only eat a small portion of brown rice and not every day). I haven't eaten oatmeal for a long time, but I will incorporate that to my meal soon :D

I try my best to eat varieties of foods so that I won't lack of nutritional deficiencies from the benefits of other foods. And I make sure to get 5-7 servings of vegetables and fruits per day as recommended.

My previous meals consist of 3 meals:
1. Breakfast: A cup of coffee and wheat bread with jam or peanut butter or chocolate spread. Sometimes I changed bread with cereal and low fat milk.
2. Lunch: I normally ate cooked meal such as, small portion of white rice, cooked vegetable and cooked chicken breast such as curry chicken, stew chicken, or chicken wing or fried/cooked fish. I seldom eat beef.
3. Dinner: dinner was mostly the same as lunch, small portion of rice, cooked veggie or salad & chicken or fish.
4. Snack: Varieties of cookies or cakes and a cup of tea

I do get hungry with small meals, that's why I eat them often like 5-6 meals/day

Yes, I used to spend a lot of time distracting myself from craving junk food..:lol: Now, I seldom have cravings on junk food as I experience so many benefits of eating more raw and healthy foods. On top of that, this forum and like-minded people like you and other members of the forum help me tremendously in distracting myself from craving junk food!:dance:

Hi Ish! Glad to see you again here!!:hug: I haven't looked up other journals yet as I've been so busy lately. :hit: Please forgive me!

Thanks for the link Ish! I'd take a look at it and keep it for my reference! Thanks again!

Hi TPerez, I'm glad you like the "in control" strategy! Aww, sorry about the chocolate pretzels, when you go to the isles of the supermarket/grocery stores, say it "I'm in control, I can choose to make wise food decisions", "I'm in control, I can choose to make wise food decisions" 5 or 10 times, it works for me and I left the supermarket without the chocolate cookies!!:happy: Hope it works for you the next time around! Also, putting the picture of your vision board such as a picture of a slim body on the places you can see everyday, helps as well.

Preparation: (very easy to prepare)

1. In a medium sized bowl, mash the avocado

2. Add remaining ingredients and stir until well mixed

3. Spread 2-3 tbs of this mixture onto lettuce leaves and wrap and this

I just made the raw burritos tonight. I put a little hot sauce in the recipe and loved them. Thanks for sharing, Xina!

I have a enough left over to bring to work tomorrow. I didn't have any corn for the recipe either. Is canned corn okay?

Your welcome, Matt!! I would prefer frozen corn and thaw them like 15-20 minutes. I'm not sure about canned corn as I never bought them.

PS: I just browsed that most frozen veggies from the store have been blanched (partly cooked). If you prefer to eat raw corn, then I guess the best bet is to buy them raw.

Yesterday morning, January 12, I made a breakfast smoothie. It's winter here in Texas so people would rather eat hot breakfast. However, I was determined to eat Raw Food for breakfast, so I decided to make "Winter Banana and Berry Smoothie". This recipe is actually called for Hemp and Berry Smoothie, because I haven't bought hulled hemp seed yet, I didn't use them.

Ingredients:

1 banana (I used 2 bananas)
2 tablespoons hulled hemp seed (didn't use as I haven't bought them yet)
1 bag of frozen berries
1 cup pure water

Directions:

Put all ingredients in a high speed blender.
Add enough water so that all ingredients are covered.
Blend well.
You may want to add a little more water if it's too thick. You may blend longer if you find it too cold.

It's so delicious and refreshing!!:dance:

Today is Jan 14. It's still cold here in Texas, the weather now shows 46F but feels like 39F  I didn't run yesterday but I think I could manage to run outdoor later today.

Day after day, I become more and more in love with Raw Foods.:heart: I'm searching raw food recipes and learn more and more about raw foods every day. It amazes me how I feel after eating more raw foods every day. I feel energized, healthy and on top of that, I lose weight!!:happy:

So, my Raw Food Breakfast for today is "Creamy Carrot Juice". Yay!!! It's sooo creamy, sweet and yummy!!!

After taking this juice for breakfast, I feel so good for the rest of the day. It gives me instant energy!! In the winter, I like to mix carrot juice with ginger and lemon juice to give it a bit of a kick - and keep those colds away!

And for lunch, I have the usual "Baby Spring Mix Salad" with Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar and Minced Garlic. I made my own salad dressing and I  it! I sometimes crave my own salad (weird craving :lol: ) because of the dressing I made.

Updated: I finally run at 7:30 p.m. and I felt soooo GOOD!

Xina, you are an artist. Your pictures look like they are out of an cook book.

I'll have to try your carrot juice recipe. While cleaning my kitchen cupboards yesterday I discovered I a blender I had hidden below the sink. I got it for a Christmas present a couple years back and forgot I even had it. I'm definitely want to try the banana and berry smoothie as well.

Here is the recipe for the carrot juice: (very easy) :D

Ingredients:
2 pounds carrots
1/2 lemon
1 inch of ginger (you can always add more if you like spicy :-)

Directions:
Scrape the carrots, wash
Wash the lemon and cut most of the peel off.
Peel the ginger, and slice to fit your juicer
Juice the lemon, the carrots and the gingers.
Ready!

Enjoy!

Indeed! I feel more awake in the morning and I never got sleepy in the afternoon after lunch. The only thing though, I feel sleepy early at night, like around 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. I'm nocturnal before. Not sure about that.

Day 14 - Review & Plan for Last Week Ahead

I have provided the review above that I'm more and more in :heart: with Raw Foods and learn more and more about Raw Foods benefits every day from the internet. It amazes me how I feel after eating more raw foods every day. I feel energized, healthy and on top of that, I lose weight!! I have to be honest that sometimes I eat cooked food too, but the percentage of eating raw foods is getting more and more everyday.

And my action steps to create a more successful Week 3 ahead are the followings:
1. Run/jog 4-5 miles in a daily basis. If I can't do running or jogging outside due to the weather, I would do pilates exercise instead.
2. Plan my Weekly Raw Meal a week in advance so I can prepare the raw materials way in advance, unless for the vegetables that are easily perished. I would buy them every 2 or 3 days or so.
3. Do research on raw foods recipes that is easy and fast to make
4. Do research on the benefits of different types of raw food ingredients so I can eat more variety of raw foods
5. Eat Raw Food as much as I can in a daily basis
6. Try different kinds of raw foods recipes to make it more interesting, so I won't get bored easily.

I wish everyone success in week 3 ahead!

Hey Xina, thank you for sharing your recipes and pictures!
Your presentation is great! You really are an artist ;)
I'm out of bananas - so it will be smoothie again only after food shopping tomorrow morning
For the carrot juice - do you use a blender or juicer?
I'll have to try it. I have a juicer, but I don't usually make juices as the main item. My favourite is orange, carrots, apples and sometimes a slice of pumpkin as well - the kids love it!

Hi Yuwana, you might want to use a juicer for carrots ;) With a blender you would probably need to strain the pulp. I remember putting carrot in a blender once, and it didn't turn out too well!
