Here's a new video I shot poolside to explain how I motivate myself to do weights and swim endless laps in the pool, two activities I'm not particularly crazy about --- but still do them since they are very effective.

Sidedoor Motivation To Do Things You Don't Like

Hope this helps keep some of you on track in your fitness program

I have to admit that this is the first time I have ever watched one of your videos and I have to say I kind of enjoyed that side of you, actually hearing you speak. The crickets towards the end were a bit distracting though. I definitely think I will check out some of your other videos. I don't know but you come across a lot more personable that way than you do in text. (Not to say that you aren't personable here because I don't think anyone would say that!)

Thank you for sharing with us!

Thanks for the feedback Moira. Yes, since I'm primarily a speaker, I'm much more video intensive than most folks. Plus I can end up doing some goofy stuff on video and this doesn't come across on text that well - at least for me. This was actually episode #58 so lots of others online with everything from cultural festivals to scuba diving with dolphins to scenes with my dogs, etc.

If you are interested, there is an Episode Archive that lists all past videos.

I did find that and ended up watching a couple more after I had posted my reply here. I really enjoyed your enthusiasm and I thought the slightly goofy attitude at some parts was quite charming.

Thanks for sharing this! I actually used to feel this way with running, with certain weight exercises, and now with certain warmups in jujitsu. I dont hate them... but I don't exactly like them either (mostly cause some of them I just don't have the dexterity to do) but I'll keep it in mind next time.

The other aim for this video was to prove without a doubt that one can most certainly be healthy and fit for the long term (remember I'm 50) without resorting to the most recent diet fad of the month, any type of fasting or extreme measure. I simply have a very healthy, well balanced diet that I've maintained for decades plus exercise.
