I'm starting from Day 1 (again). The day one task reminded me to make it a priority that I'm getting at least the 6-8 glasses. I'm usually quite good at this. Staying hydrated has long been my thing. So here's some stuff I do to keep doing my thing.
WATER DRINKING TIPS
- One trick that I use is, I keep water by my bedside. This way I can have a sip before I sleep, sometimes I'll awaken briefly in the night and have some without interrupting the flow of my sleep. (I don't do it on purpose, I've been doing it for years without prompting) And of course, if there is some left over I'll drink the water when I first wake up.
I use a really big cup or quart container. It seems that if I use a 8-12 oz cup I'll either drink less because I don't want to refill it, run out and need to refill it which means I get up or go back to sleep a little thirsty. The bigger cup is less thinking. It seems to me that I drink 1-2 cups in this night time sleep/drinking gig. Which cuts my daytime intake need to 4-6 cups. I believe I drink about 5 cups regularly, so I average 6-7 cups.
- I think the wake up water is the most important. I've noticed that the earlier I start drinking water during the day the more often I will drink water throughout the day. Maybe 5-9 cups.
- Another big help is to keep the water visible. Out of sight, out of mind = In sight, in mind. If it's readily accessible it's easier to get rid of it (by drinking it).
- And finally, though I eluded to this before... Big Containers. I use a aluminum water bottle when I'm on the go and often the quart containers at home. In New York we get them from the Chinese restaurant delivery when we order iced tea, so essentially I'm also recycling. And two of them equal 8 cups.
Hope this helps someone! And I'm off to roam the forum.

Robyn,
I agree with you on out of site out of mind. It is amazing how much more water I drink by keeping my water bottle with me at all times!
Have a great weekend!
