What got me interested in health and made me join this challenge is, quite frankly, my desire for longevity :) I'm one of the people who don't really believe in life after death, or at least the survival of the current ego (identity derived from your name, past, life situation and circumstances) beyond this lifespan. I want to live my life feeling great, having lots and lots of energy, and a health-radiating body.

I always thought that the prerequisite of happiness, enjoyment and a great life is, first of all, HEALTH! An excellent health will make you feel happier, uplift your mood, give you tons of energy and make you ready to create the life you want, with a big determination to make the most out of your time here on earth!

Well, I'm here because I need to do something with myself, I need to start somewhere to change myself, my habits, my life ... I'm strugling for so long to do something. I'm just digging and learning and theoretically I think I know a lot about many things, but I never ever start anything. So I'm here hoping that this will change. I feel that with your support I can change for better. Thanks for giving me this chance.

My intentions are to live my best life. I'm always striving to do better, live better, and succeed in life. I do need help to stay on track though. I'm a very active person and am involved in many different kinds of activities. The 30 day challenge helped me get over some of my fears and I want to continue to get better. I still need to tackle some of my "bucket-list" activities. I'd love to achieve my ideal weight, and I'm actually meeting with a trainer today! I'd also love to see my new jewelry business thrive this year. Another area I'd like to improve upon is getting rid of clutter and organizing my home. I'd like to create a space that's for my business.

I look forward to meeting others and sharing ideas! :)

Well, my intention was mainly to have a healthier lifestyle. I just turned 20 and I am getting the hints that I am not getting any younger and that I should keep moving forward. With that, I intend to do away with may laziness and get a better perspective in life starting with my daily routines and eating habits. Also I'd like to start arranging my life again so I can be more productive. :D

Carpe Diem!

There can be no happiness if the things we believe in are different from the things we do.

I am a mother and a student. Sometimes I feel myself drowning in so much activity that I forget to take care of myself. When this happens, I get grumpy and turn to doing mindless activities, like watching television for hours upon end.

I'm still nursing my daughter, so taking care of myself and eating healthy is very important as I have increase my nutrient intake in order to replace the nutrients that she is gaining from me. When my eating habits take a dive, I could feel the negative effects very quickly, because all of the good stuff is going to my daughter and not me.

For school, I do a lot of work on the computer, so my posture has been suffering. The fitness routine I am doing now has done wonders for my posture, but the second I get on my computer to do hours of coding web pages and/ or video editing, I start to slump and I feel like someone took a tire iron to my back.

My sleeping habits need a lot of work. I co-sleep with my daughter so it effects her as well. There are times when I'm up until 1am or later. A two-year-old should not be up at that time. It would also be nice to be at school without feeling awful due to lack of sleep.

Anne, I feel you! I'm 25 and I'm realizing that I need to get some good lifelong habits going myself.

I went into my goals a bit on the intro thread, but I'll list some specific goals for 2011 here that this challenge might help me kick off:

1. Decrease anxiety and depression
2. Increase sense of balance in my life
3. Eat more fruits and veg and figure out digestive issues
4. Reduce emotional eating/snacking "out"
5. Address toxic relationships
6. Get back into a regular yoga practice
7. Start meditating regularly
8. Do fun/creative things to improve emotional health
9. Improve personal hygiene, including regular skin care

Some of mine might be a bit unusual, but possibly it'll give someone ideas!

Every year I set a word to guide me for the year and in 2010 and I chose Healthy- however things didn't work out quite as I'd planned- I did manage to get off anti-depressants, start walking regularly and begin to lose weight but then unexpectedly I developed pneumonia! This has taken a long time to get over- I'm 48 and I just don't bounce back as quickly as I did. But now my energy levels have increased again I'm ready to refocus on health and fitness as my goal> So my intentions for this challenge are to sort out my action plan to achieve this and begin to implement it. I know that this is not specific enough yet so that's my first task.

I already eat fairly healthy and exercise regularly, but I want to step it up and see if I can turn back the "clock" by 5-10 years.

I believe I can turn the clock back by eating even healthier (juicing and introducing more raw foods in my diet) and by stepping up my exercise to more strenuous, fat burning and muscle strengthening activities.

I'd like to lost 7 pounds and feel incredible energy again.

THanks for the opportunity for this challenge!

My final goal is to lose 50 lbs and get down to a healthy weight of 130lbs. I was healthy until just about 3 yrs ago and I hate how I look and feel now. And the extra weight is taking a toll on my body...my back aches and I get winded from the smallest activities and I know that this not good nor healthy. Also cardiovascular disease runs in my family. Years ago a cardiologist told me that I needed to maintain my health and weight (at that time) because I have a higher risk of developing the disease and having a heart attack. I am a single mother so I HAVE to get myself healthy again so I can be here for my children.

My main goal for the 21 day challenge is to get some guidance as to how I can become healthier in 2011. I used to go to gym 5 days a week, religiously. I kept this up for over a year and was in the best shape of my life - this was about 3 years ago and I'm keen to get back into shape. I've already started with (don't laugh) Xbox's EA Active 2, which is working out surprising well. I'm already a vegetarian so I will also be making an effort to cut down on some of the processed food I still eat. I hope to get some good suggestions on how I can improve my general health through this challenge.

People believe that money can bring you happiness, but what I'm learning is that being HEALTHY is the beginning of the path to happiness.

As much as I need to "free" (quite a bit of extra) weight... that is not my main focus here... this time.

My hopes and goals for this challenge are to focus on ME. To learn to create healthy life long habits and create a sense of peace and balance in all aspects of my health/fitness including mind, body & spirit.

There are many things I want to do in life. Usually the excuse is the common culprit of "some day" or "when I lose weight." Well... "some day"... is TODAY! And like the song says...

NO DAY BUT TODAY!

Namaste,
christina

Hi all!

My goals are:

1. Go completely vegetarian and eat more fruit and veg (I occasionally eat fish and I would like to stop).

2. Become an early riser (I have been in the past, but since I finished my Masters, I'm sleeping in again).

3. Get into a good exercise routine (like Kitta, I like video-game based exercise. I go through phases of being addicted to my Wiifit and EA Active, but the habit never seems to stick).

I think 1 will be easy, but I think I will struggle with 2 & 3.

Hi!
I'm a procrastinator and I've decided that 2011 is going to be my year to change my life into the life I want. Now it's time to start working toward my goals! I even wrote them down :)

1. Drink 1.5 L water each day - keep a note of each glass of water I drink to ensure I reach this goal. Bring water bottle in my backpack for train travel.
2. Get up at 5.30 each day and get to bed by 10.30 (11.00 at the very latst)
3. Meditation establish a routine
4. Go on 2 long lunchtime walks ruring the week [40 minutes]
5. Use my weights and stretch cord for daily weight training and stretching
6. Healthy, natural food for lunches at work
7. Stop being dependent on caffeine - no coffee at night! Restricit coffee to 2 a day, and continue to enjoy Chinese tea. I love coffee and tea (especially Japanese green tea, and Chinese teas especially jasmine) Continue to enjoy my morning filtered coffee then drink tea and water during the day?
8. Daily breathing exercises and voice exercises
9. Cut out sugary foods and reduce carbs.
10 . Alcohol - I enjoy good wine and beer, but I need to limit my
intake. In August 2009 I abstained from alchohol for 30 days - I will
repeat this during the challenge. 21 days of no alcohol.

The main reason I come to this challenge is to fulfill my biggest NY2011 resolution - to become truly mentally grounded and prioritize my emotional health over other less important things in life. Therefore, I will definitely be focusing more on meditaion, yoga, posture, early rising, getting rid of all the toxic surroundings/influences/people and keeping a positive outlook on life!

My secondary goal is to stick to all the healthy food choices and learn to be in full control over any weakening and goal-destructing food cravings.

Lastly, I would like the schedule of my workouts to be more structured and planned out better. I would like focus on fitting them better into my overall schedule (thus minimizing the downtime and commuting).

I will definitely be thinking more of my goals in the next few days and hope to really narrow them down to be very very specific, but that's what I've got for now...

Just a few more days until 2011, so excited!

Hi guys,
My goals are to continue my qwest towards greater spiritual and physical health. I want to feel my best so that I can achieve higher levels of creativity and productivity and still have the energy to spend quality time with my husband. I would like to exercize more, eat consistently good whole foods and cut out the junk.

I wish us all success in meeting our goals!

My intention is to make the switch to a raw food diet, which I've never been able to accomplish before without switching back to cooked after a couple of weeks.

Also, to get myself in the habit of going to bed earlier and waking up earlier, meditate more often and exercise more often too.

Plus, I've enjoyed the December 30DLBL challenge on the forum here so much that it's going to be nice to continue on into another challenge that I know will benefit me just as much.
