My intentions for 21DHL:

Eat more consciously
--no more eating while standing, nibbling off kids' plates, eating in the car
Pre-Plan my meals so I'm not reaching for just anything when I get too hungry
No dairy--make me feel sluggish and stuffy
No alcohol--I've become dependent on my nightly glass or two to help me fall asleep, but it actually interferes with sound sleep in my case
Exercise daily--I'm starting the New Year off right with a 5k on the 1st, and I want to keep that momentum going. For me, being fit means I can run a race like that anytime because I've been running regularly. I also want to start yoga and body-resistant weight training.
Take vitamins and fish oils daily but still aim for getting the vitamins I need from real food

I love reading everyone's intentions and goals! Very inspiring.

Goals:

1) Eat less sugar and salty foods. Also, eat less (nothing) after 6PM. I currently eat whatever's in the house and especially at night I won't stop until I'm full or the food's gone. I would like to find the voice inside myself that tells me that it's okay to be a *little* hungry.
2) Cut out TV and inane web browsing to stop diluting my focus and stop running from meaningful activities.
3) Keep my exercise regimen as it currently is: 3 runs a week for a total of 20-30km. Daily pushups, squats and yoga to start the day. 2-3x/week strength training in the gym. 1-2x/week yoga class.
4) Find an interesting cross-training solution for 1-2x/week on the off days for running. I've been taking spinning interval classes for the past two weeks and they are definitely an option.
5) Start eating more consciously: more raw and less processed. More cooking, less deepfrozen pizzas.

Well, this year has been very great for me in terms of sticking to some valuable habits. I'd like to continue this way from the very beginning of the next one. My goals of the highest priority are to go to bed and stand up early, and more physical activity. I'm an avid walker, but now I think it's time to try jogging and some other routines.

Ohhhh! Ozcaveman, you speak the truth!
I have a huge mug of green jasmine in front of me right now. I'll have 2 or 3 more today. Love the stuff!

Movement
I intend to work on attending all my early afternoon exercise sessions. Right now, I'm avoiding it because it's really cold and I don't feel like changing into my fitness clothes!

Healthy Fuel
I also want to get into a healthy fuel routine. Right now, I tend to let myself get really hungry and then grab something convenient to eat instead of making myself some good food to eat. Especially at lunch time! I need to put the food on a plate and sit down at the table instead of gobbling up slices of ham and cheese while standing at the kitchen counter.

Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

My intentions in joining this challenge:
1) Excercise at least 30 minutes each day - taking time to play with my 5 year old if that's all I can fit in
2) Reduce fatty, sugary and salty foods in my diet
3) Plan 2 hikes each month in 2011 (except for June, July and August)
4) Journal and meditate daily

My goals for the 21 days:
Actually swallow the vitamins and supplements I'm supposed to take
Walk each day (or substitute with snow shoveling)
Eat smaller more frequent meals to keep blood sugar on even keel
Attend Strength Training class as often as possible with schedule
Work out at home on days that I can not attend Strength Training
Eat out less often and prepare my own food so I know what is in it!

Good luck to everyone!

Oh where to start? I've been planning a lot of changes for my self for 2011, basically to improve my health and well-being and my main goals to reach that are these:

To be satisfied with my body and my looks
To prioritaze better and engage myself more in my intersets
To develope socialy (and my socializing skills particulary!)
To grow spirtually and find (at least) the beginning of my path

When I saw the post of 21DHL it felt like the perfect beginning to the year and since I didn't follow through with the 30dlbl when I was just a passive member I thought that the forum could give me some well needed support and positive spirit (which hopefully I can contribute to too :) )

So thats why I am here and I'm having a feeling that this is going to be my (and all of ours!) year!! :D

If nothing we do matters ... then all that matters is what we do.

3. To develope socialy (and my socializing skills particulary!)
4. To grow spirtually and find (at least) the beginning of my path

Good luck to everyone!

I have been a procrastinator for ages, and still I am, but I'm trying to overcome it, and I hope I will. My goals for the 21DHL are:

1\ Completely cut out soda & junk food
2\ Eat more fruits & veggies
3\ Establish & stick to an exercise routine daily
4\ Sleep & wake up early
5\ Improve my posture

Ok, that's for now, and I really hope I'll be able to stick to it.

Wishing all of us good luck,
Bushra

Hello my lovelies!

I've been procrastinating for as long as I can remember! I used to do so many different activities when I was in high school, and then just stopped everything as soon as I moved away to go to university. To this day, I regret it so much - I was so fit then, even though I didn't realise it. My goals for two-thousand-and-heaven are the following:

- Make exercise a part of my daily routine: I don't just mean walks in the park; I have dozens of fitness videos, and have never had the diligence to see any of the programs through. I want to change that this year. No more excuses!

- Finally conquer emotional/boredom eating. I don't know what it is about me, but as soon as I'm bored, I reach for either sweet stuff or a bottle of wine. I don't know if it's because I don't enjoy my company enough to not fill time with food or booze, but either way, I plan on making a change in that department. I want to start journalling, studying or being productive in any other way when I feel the urge to do something naughty.

- LOSE THE ALL OR NOTHING ATTITUDE! I'm the kind of girl who just gives up immediately after cheating. If I have a slice of cake or a glass of wine, I just think "F*ck it, the diet's ruined anyway, might as well carry on!", which is obviously a toxic way of seeing things. I've come to realise that I need to stop beating myself up over small mistakes, that one little stumble doesn't cancel out months of hard work, and that I just need to CARRY ON.

- Come to grips with the fact that this isn't a "diet" - it's a lifestyle change.

- And finally, losing five or ten pounds and feeling proud of how I look and feel wouldn't be bad at all! ;)

Good luck everyone. <3

My goals for it are:

1. To lose 5KGs (11Lbs) in 21 days and then continue losing weight steadily.
2. To ingrain healthy eating habits and to continue after the challenge is over.
3. To improve on my sleep. I always take too long to get to sleep at night.
4. To gain confidence that I can meet my health and physical goals.

My goals -
Get enough Sleep (atleast 7hrs a night)
Mindful eating - I'm a vegetarian but eat unhealthy food or overeat even if I don't really care for what I'm eating.
Exercise everyday - Even if it is a 30 minute walk

The idea is really to build a foundation for a healthy life.

My main goal is to create a new life. All of the Kombucha I make and drink has given me a ton of new energy and opened my mind to so many new creative paths, I need to re-structure myself and start and stick to a new discipline. Since I'm a total loner, I'll never join a group in person, so this venue may be perfect for me.

I want to tone and tighten and strengthen my body and get out more and be able to do more physical things. I'm hoping this new discipline will also re-inspire me to achieve new heights to my jewelry artistry/business and to finally get into and work on the art gallery I've started.

I want to become and look and feel like the person I really am. I was a weight trainer in a health club many years ago. I want to get that strength and vitality and drive back again.

I have been a self help junkie of your site for a couple months now. After reading your introduction to the 21DHL challenge, I could not stop thinking about what you said about it being up to me, that I have to do it myself. I know I need to do something different with the direction of my life and that includes my health. I need to lose 65 pounds and I need to be more active, while all that will not happen in 21 days, I will start a new habit and move in the right direction.

I am taking that action now!
