April 8, 2011 update

1. Approach a leader in real estate/landlord education arena to write a foreword for my Tenant Screening Guide. DONE

2. Attach the foreword to the ebook, and add it to the sales page on blog. DONE

3. Approach writer of foreword with marketing idea. I offered to put two links to his site (which is a site I personally used and enjoyed when learning the landlording business) in my ebook, plus offer him 25% of sales to promote on his site and in his newsletters. Members pay $80 / year to join his site - this is a very targeted market. He agreed. As of 4-8-11 the promotion is live on his site and higher traffic was tracked on my site - coming from his. No sales yet. DONE

4. Shared this happy news on facebook with friends and family. My brother sent me a snarky email and it hurt my feelings. Basically, he asked why I think I am qualified to present myself as an expert on my ebook topic. I remembered reading something in the past from one of Celes' articles on people who are not supportive of your dreams and how to just wall them off and not let them bring you down. DONE

5. Did admin tasks relating to the ebook, like setting up coupon codes, affiliate program and backing up all related "final" files, deleting old drafts from computer systems DONE

Fantastic work Kim!! How long did it take for you to complete your ebook from conceptualization to completion?

Wow gee, sorry to hear that Why did he send that email, do you know? Has he always been like this? Either way I agree with you that if he's not being supportive (and in a nonconstructive way, no-less), it's better to cut him off (at least for now) and spend more time with people who do support you. We're all here to support you Kim!! You're doing really marvelous work here

Thank you for the encouragement Celes! I actually developed my tenant screening process over the last couple of years because I have a rental property and I've encountered some tenant issues. I wanted to solve this for myself, so I learned everything I could and developed an automated process for my own use, with all the guidelines and forms, on-line links, etc. Its all inclusive of everything needed from the time someone advertises a property for rent, through the application process and all the way up to acceptance or rejection.

I actually spent only one week writing it up into a "story" with links.

Then, I had a real estate attorney friend review it and give it her blessing. She loved it and encouraged me to proceed.

The ebook was completed but then I wasn't sure how to market it. Maybe another Personal Excellence School class that may come up in the future ?

Just recently I thought about approaching someone about writing the Foreword. He said he was HONORED to be asked! When his response was received so quickly and was SO PERFECT, I decided to see if he would help me promote it. And he was happy to!

My brother - you know, I don't think he ever says anything nice to anyone. He is a very negative person. But he doesn't live nearby and we don't talk on the phone. Just now and then I will get a critical email from him through something he sees on my facebook wall. Usually it is me posting some happy news and him shooting me down with negativity.

Yesterday, I restricted his access, so he cannot see the wall anymore. I responded to his first email questioning why I thought I could write anything on the topic and sell it. After that, another email came and I am planning to simply ignore it.
