This is a strange one. Fortunately for my family line, there doesn't seem to be a lot of hair loss. I still have all of mine and I've reached middle age. But if I did start losing hair in a way that things look bad, I would either consider implants or shave my head altogether!

Haha, I was thinking of the placebo effect! I was debating whether I should post my last post because I was thinking "oh no... I dont want to tell her that it is impossible for these pills to have an effect so soon if it is really just a placebo!"
Actually low fat intakes are associated with hair loss, the reason being that fat is the precursor for making hormones (hormones are steroids, a type of fat). When I did my raw vegan trial I ate NO overt fats at all, no nuts, avocados, anything! Like I said, my hair started to fall out by the end of 6 months but that was alos due to a caloric issue. It took 2 months of eating nuts and increasing my cals before my hair stopped falling out. I dont think that 2 days of eating nuts would do this though so Im still confused lol. The only thing that I can think of in your situation that would have such a direct effect is stress... where you under more stress last week than this one?

Oh and I asked about the hair extensions because I noticed in another video you had up on youtube it was short and it was uploaded recently! (I think the dating one?) I thought how did her hair grow that fast?! :0 haha.

The dating video was actually done in Jan 2010 (it was written in the description) - It was part of The Celes Show which I did briefly last year. I just uploaded it to the channel anyway so people can benefit from what was covered in the episode. :D

Actually on the hair loss, there are reasons why i didn't think it's placebo. One is because it's not just a 1 week or 2 week thing, but something that's been happening for years (my hair loss). And the situation had been worsening over the years, not just in a few days. I'm talking about a loss of about perhaps 100 strands a day from 8 years ago, to slowly increasing to 150-250 strands a day, to eventually 300-400 strands a day as of late (possibly even more). Secondly the loss difference is really HUGE. From 300-400 strands a day, it suddenly became 40-50 strands a day. The third is because I've actually tried various things (from eating more legumes, protein, soy; going to hair saloon and getting scalp treatment, etc) over the years to reduce the hair loss (and also semi believing/hoping they'll work), but never experienced any positive changes thereafter. Hence if it's really placebo, I'd think that the placebo would have kicked in long ago!

So in short, I'm as confused as you are Hannah! LOL. Whatever it is it's good anyway and I'm glad. By the way, update on the nuts situation - Going to include healthy quantity of nuts in my diet from now on. Not sure if eating the nuts made any difference of whatever but as of now my hair fall has been pretty "normal" or definitely better than the past (like I said, about 50 strands/day now). I'm definitely grateful for the change/improvement in the situation, so at least now I don't need to worry about this whole mystery hair loss situation.

your comments triggered an old memory about my grandmother saying we should eat nuts to get beautiful hair , specially almonds and walnuts.
Eating nuts is ok, but I always used to run away when being told to apply almond oil to my hair

It's an estimation - actually not that hard to extrapolate. For example the hair mainly fell out during brushing, which were stand alone sessions. Then other rough estimations based on how many strands that would fall out when touching my hair/checking my shirt.

Hi Celes i had experienced like you too. Now I am better. I think you should think about the shampoo. I had visited the hair saloon about my problem. They advise me choose the right products, natural shampoo that is no chemical. For two month later I got thwarting positive result. Leny

Hi Celes,

I researched hair loss for days when attempting a 3 week water fast. Here's what I learned

-Biotin and a B complex vitamin will most likely be helpful.
-Lack of protein and fat can be the issue. Chia, hemp, and flax are all wonderful sources. I can't say enough about them, they give me an unbelievable amount of energy!
-Getting 30 grams of fat a day is a very very low goal to aim for. 60 grams is also pretty low.
-Losing more than 15-20 pounds quickly can cause hair loss about 1 month after the event.
-Any sort of thing your body registers as 'trauma', which could be calorie restriction, will cause hair to fall out.
-Hair normally grows back thicker and shinier when you start getting enough calories/protein/fat (1000 calories or more a day)

Personally I was not getting enough calories, vitamins, minerals, fats, OR proteins, so I understand why my hair was falling out. I started eating much more nutrient rich food (hemp) and don't have any scary hair loss anymore. Thank goodness, I had bald spots that were growing and growing. They're gone now!

Good luck!
Kate

coconut oil is a huge blessing for your hair. It is one of the most effective conditioners ever and helps in regrowth of damaged hair. That’s why it is used in most hair care products.
People living in coastal and tropical regions have excellent shiny black and thick hair. That’s because the only hair oil they know of is coconut oil.
Coconut oil is widely used both internally and externally.
Plush spas often use coconut oil in their expensive scalp and hair treatments. It is effective for all hair types.
Beauty product manufacturers are aware of the usefulness of coconut oil for healthy hair. That’s why it can be found in many hair care products.

I just thought everyone should know that the state of your hair health is a direct reflection of your diet three months prior. For example, the reason why postpartum hair loss usually beings 3 months after child birth is because of the hormone surges that occur directly after delivery. It takes that long for the effects to show up in your hair.

This being April, you would have to go back to January and figure out what type of diet you were following and trouble shoot what may be the cause.

While supplements and upping fat can help, it is actually the macronutrient protein that is most responsible for how your hair looks. As a vegetarian, you may not be getting complete protein sources, especially the essential amino acids. Double check your diet to make sure you have a wide variety of protein, eat more than the daily reccommended amount, and you should see results in three months.
