I want to make meditation a habit. There is waaayyy too much craziness going on out in the world, and I feel at my best when I'm grounded and am able to see above it all, and dodge the madness.

I usually try to meditate first thing in the morning (while my cat is pounding on my door impatiently waiting to be fed). It helps me start my day off right.

I try to get in 5 - 10 minutes (Lucky the cat gets really aggressive if I take longer than that). When I'm able to do it at night I can go longer.

I'm open to learning different types of meditation. I light a candle and switch between closing my eyes, and opening them while focusing on the light.

I wish to establish a great habit that I can take with me forever!

Wow! I couldn't agree any better. You took the words from my mouth. The world sure feels crazy, fast paced and just stressful when we don't take out some times for ourselves.

I used to not even know what my own feelings and desires were, as a consequence I lived an unhappy life procrastinating 24/7, literally. Not the best way to live :/. Improving myself, following my dreams and loving others for who they are is the best thing I could had ever done in my lifetime. See you around. :D

His name is Lucky, and he is quite the handful.
So Day 1 was a bust.
Day 2 I managed to get in about 5 minutes before bed. For some reason, I kept feeling like a clock was ticking and I needed to hurry up. Weird.
Day three, this morning was a little better. I still only got in about 5 minutes, but I plan to make up for it some time tonight.
-it is hard starting off, trying to clear my mind. The methods I use to clear my mind end up launching my mind into another area of thought. lol. But I'm going to keep trying!

As I posted when I checked in, I was clearly not doing it right. For the longest time, I thought meditation was supposed to be done by clearing your mind, which is almost impossible if you are living. As much as I like a challenge, that was a little to much like sysiphis. So after reading Celes post for today, I now know that I can just relax, chill, and let it be. I'm excited to have this new focus and see what results I get.

I also mentioned in another post that I like sitting in silence. When I come out of ti I feel so much more settled. All the thoughts that were rattling around in my brain b4 I meditate just cease. That is enough to keep me coming back for more :)

I was sitting next to a classmate the other night and was telling her about this challenge. I knew she'd appreciate my efforts because she is big into meditation. So much so that she took a break from class to go do it. She then offered to teach me some techniques. I'm really excited to learn.

I did a 15 minute walking meditation-got in some body and mind cardio, it was great!
Then I did a 30 minute guided imagery meditation. It was cool, kept me focused and still longer than i thought it would.

Sometimes it feels like my days are going by so fast that I don't get a chance to recognize how the meditation is effecting me day to day...
