Hi,
this is my first time on the forum and I hope that I am able to get some feedback on the topic of life purpose.

I have just completed the brainstorming exercise to discover my life purpose. I have just spent a few hours writing and writing, when I was overcome by tears and a sense of relief. At the end, I recalled a particular situation that happened almost 18 years ago and the feelings/values/thoughts that I took from this experience. I feel that I have come to my life purpose, but not really satisfied thinking perhaps that there could be more to it. I don't know whether this is my 'perfectionist' characteristic (ie., wanting to write more and really be really sure that I have it right) or whether there is actually more to uncover. I do feel a sense of relief and feel that I can move on to the next stage of formalising my life purpose and feel a general happiness and relief of having reached this stage.

in your experience, what do you think is best to do?

Thanks heaps,
sohret

Greetings from another Sydney resident and forum member! Sounds like you have identified a good working definition of your life purpose. Why not stick with that and review daily to see how it resonates with you?

Are you working through the 30 Days to Living a Better life ebook or blog articles? You would be interested in joing the next challenge in April to work through these exercises.

Hi, Sorhet. Deciding on your life purpose can be a a difficult thing. Do you know what it is about your current purpose that gives you a feeling something is missing? Are you sure you are being completely honest with yourself about what you want out of life? Could it be that you are just not satisfied with the verbiage of your life purpose and you wish to make it more eloquent or concise?

As long as you have decided to discover your life purpose you are already on the right track. The exercise can be intimidating because we may feel that we could choose the wrong life purpose. But what would be the difference between that and having no purpose at all?

My life purpose is this:

To consciously live my best life and be my best self.

To develop my amazing creative talents.

To celebrate love, freedom, and excellence.

Feel free to share your life purpose here if you wish :D

Charles, has the right idea. If the purpose you came up with is the best you feel you can do then just keep that statement in mind and live the purpose to your fullest for the next few days. Keep the purpose in mind whenever you are faced with decisions. If there truly is something missing it will become apparent.

Hi Matt and Charles, thank you both for your responses and your insight into defining a life purpose. Your feedback has made it clearer in my head that my progress today was great in relation to moving forward to live a purposeful and meaningful life. I had written a mission statement previously, however, I wanted to start from scratch as I felt that I was not really achieving my goals and felt overwhelmed by them.

Thanks again
Sohret
