My intention is to begin this year as a strong and healthy woman, both physically and mentally by increasing my workout routine, eating healthier meals, and taking care of myself mentally.
Fitness
1. Met with a personal trainer to design a weight training workout (weight train 3 times a week).
2. Continue cardio 3 times a week
3. try a few new exercise classes: yoga, body combat, zumba

Food/diet
1. Continue adding more veggies into the diet, especially greens.
2. make 3-4 healthy meals for my family per week.
3. try new healthy recipes...one a week
4. meal plan!
5. add more herbal teas and drink 8 glasses a water per day!

Mental
1. start journaling again
2. go on nature/meditation walks
3. listen more to others and express myself in a clear way
4. continue to join groups to meet people outside of my normal circle of friends.
5. practice meditation and breathing exercises
6. clear useless clutter out of my life

* I look forward to sharing this journey with others too! I welcome any and all suggestions/comments.

Namaste,

Angie

Our food/diet and mental goals sound a lot a like. I need to eat more healthy foods and try to get my family more involved to not only make it easier on myself, but to also insure they have a healthy life as well. I used to write poetry a lot to help with depression/anxiety/life, but my exhusband didn't like that because I would never let him read them so I stopped. But he's now my ex and I really need to start back up again to help witha lot of issues I have. Good luck in your journey.

Good luck! You can drink your tea while you journal! Do you like green tea?

Great suggestion...thanks! I love drinking green tea while reading/journaling. I need to make more time to do that....perhaps in the morning before the craziness of the day begins.

It's still Jan. 1st for me and I've consumed about 8 cups of water and some herbal tea! I haven't had any alcoholic beverages, which is not easy around here, especially on a lazy day like today. We usually have beer or wine with dinner. I'm adding more protein to my diet since I'm weight training.

I have to say that the drinking more water seems to give me more energy. Anyone else feel like that??

Just woke up...had my one cup of coffee and some high fiber cereal with low-fat milk (around 250 calories). Now I need some water. I hope to get some cardio in today too. I need to make a meal list for the week.

I ran for 20 minutes outside, no alcohol today! Drank lots of water and ate more veggies. I didn't count all of my calories though, I'm finding that hard to do!

I do!! My lips stopped being dry for the first time in a long while! I also feel my complexion is improving, which might be a combination of the water and the high raw food diet I'm eating.

Let us know how your workout goes angie!

I do! Whenever I feel like I need coffee, I supress the urge by drinking a glass of water. I find that I'm less likely to fall into a slump in the afternoon if I've been drinking water all day, not coffee.

Your exercise goals sound intense! It sounds like you're already exercising fairly regularly to begin with. Best of luck with getting your family into healthier eating habits. I managed to get my household to have salad instead of chips with dinner last night!

Best,
Ashta

Thanks Ashta! I just started up with training again. It will be tough to fit it all in, but I'm still trying to get stronger after my pregnancy. My body changed so much after having a baby via c-section.

As for the food...I made sweet potatoe oven fries tonight for my family, they were a healthy hit! Best of luck to you too!

Day 3 &4...

I've been really focusing on exercise. I've made a goal to weight train 3 times per week, and I'm sticking with it. I went to a zumba class last night for cardio workout. I enjoy dance! I'm definitely feeling stronger, but having really "lost" any weight. I'm still drinking lots of water and have added more veggies to my diet. Today I had a salad with fresh tomatoes, corn, and a piece of Tilapia. I'm adding protein to my meals since I'm weight training. Tonight I'm making pork loin with green beans for my family. I've fallen a little on the herbal teas and meditating/journal writing. I need to get back into that.

Looking forward to adding more fruits and veggies to the menu. I wanted to reflect on what fruit/veggies I had today.

Smoothie with Strawberries/bananas
snack of celery and carrots
lettuce/tomatoes in my salad for lunch
Green beans at dinner

Thanks everyone!!

Namaste,

Angie

Exercise has been big on my goal list! I've added weight training and also more running. I've been going to the gym almost everyday too. Yesterday I went to a new Zumba class. I enjoy dancing, so it's fun exercise for me. I can't wait until I start to see some results from all of this work. I'm feeling stronger, but want to see some muscle definition too. I'd love to hear how others are doing with this too.

It's been a few days since I've posted. I've fallen a little behind due to an awful stomach virus that I had for almost a week. My son had it first, then I got it right after. It was not fun at all. I was not able to ingest any solid foods for almost 3 days. It involuntarily cleaned out my body. Now I don't want to put anything "bad" into it again. I was healthy before, now I'm even better. It was an awful sickness, but also a blessing. Being sick makes you really think about how you want your body to be clean and pure. Now, I'm getting back on track...slowly. I've been eating vegetable soups and a lot of hot tea! No alcohol too. I'm looking forward to meal planning again making healthy meals for my family...starting next week! I'm headed to the gym this morning too, time to get strong again!

I'm still in here everyone and have enjoyed reading the journals!! It's all very inspiring!

-Eating lots of whole foods today...less coffee and more green tea!
-I took an hour Zumba class and did a little weight training.

**It feels so good to get back into this again!!

I know what you mean, Angie. I feel so blessed that I have had no major illnesses -- I work with two colleagues that have cancer. The thought of that and even recovering from something nasty but not dangerous -- like the stomach virus, really makes you even more conscious of your health and fosters the desire to consciously pursue that health. Glad you are feeling better!!

Thanks so much, sometimes it takes an illness to understand your body again. Congrats on your success so far too!

Wow! Those 21 days did go by pretty fast. It was tough that I spent a week sick though, but I'm back on track. I know I can do even better. I'm running in a race tomorrow to show myself that I can do this and that I'm getting strong again. My husband and I have been making healthy meals together now. I'm drinking more herbal teas and water. We've added more fruits and veggies to our meals too! This has been a great start to the new year! Best of luck to you all!!
