Hey everyone! Welcome to Day 16 of 21DMC! :D

We're now in the 2nd day of the last week of 21DMC! How's everyone doing so far in Week 3? :D

I always believe it's important to do something because you want to and because you enjoy it, and not because you feel compelled to do it. That's really the only way any of us should do anything, really - because we are driven by desire, and not by force.

Today, I'd like you to share the top 2-3 things you enjoy most about your meditations. What do you like about your meditations? What do you look forward to the most during your meditations? These are, and will be, the reasons that draw you back to meditation every day, not because you feel obliged to do it.

New Challenges Micro-site and Upcoming November Challenge

In case you don't know, I recently launched a new Challenges section at TPEB. With this new section, I aim to run challenges at PE once every 2 months or even every month, if there is enough demand for it. Read more in the welcome post here.

With 21DMC and October drawing to a close now, I'm now planning for November's challenge ahead. Many readers have posted wonderful suggestions at the Challenges micro-site, and I'm in the middle of sorting through the suggestions. Please join in the discussion here: What Would You Like To See For November’s Challenge?

Group Meditation Chart

Here are is the group progress chart for Week 3 so far:

To get your meditation sessions recorded in this chart, please fall into the respective day's group threads and report your meditation progress as well as the length of time you've meditated. Thank you!

Share Your Meditation Experience For Day 16!

  1. Were you able to complete your meditation practice today? Why/Why not?
  2. If yes, how did your meditation go? What meditation did you do? Where did you meditate? How long did you meditate for?
  3. Anything you want to share about the meditation itself?
  4. Anything you have learned for yourself today? (whether related or non-related to meditation)

Look forward to reading your updates! :D

Hello Celes and everyone.

I meditated for 30 minutes yesterday. I try to meditate twice on weekends so I did another 15 minute round. Sorry I wasn't able to post updates but I have been doing this everyday. For the last 3 days each I have done so for at least 15 minutes each.

What I like most abt meditation is that it's time for myself, to know me better, what I feel, do, see, like, dislike, the direction I am moving in in m life, etc. After all those thoughts pass, I am alone and at peace. Superb.

Thanks, look forward to the last few days and take this habit fwd.

1.The top 2-3 things you enjoy most about your meditations.
Peace of mind, focus and inner calm.

2. What do you like about your meditations?
Observing and being in harmony with my surroundings. When doing something I like to go into what I call meditation in motion enjoying and being exactly where I am at that particular moment.

3. What do you look forward to the most during your meditations?
Being in the moment feeling in balance with myself.

Meditated for 5minutes today. Feel distracted and unfocused.

Hey Celes,

Today I meditated for 40 minutes. As described here.

Things I like:

-- I find that as I meditate regularly, I need to sleep less, and I am more productive, so I win "living time"

-- It eases discomfort and pain like headaches, back pain, colds, etc.

-- Every now and then I have a really nice idea for my projects or work

-- It makes me think and act in a calmer way in my daily life.

Have a great Sunday, everyone! :)

Hey Vroom! Great job on your meditations! :) When you say 'yesterday', do you mean Day 14, Day 15 or Day 16? And by 'last 3 days', which days are you referring to specifically?

To all the participants, I really need your help to post the updates in the respective day's threads in a timely manner. This makes it a lot easier for me to update the meditation charts. Let's follow the guidelines and work together as a group.

Day 16 - 25 minutes
Guided meditation on peacefulness in usual location in spare room. I'm sinking into a calm, present state much quicker in the past few days. I enjoyed this calm space while guided through recognising the peace in every moment. A little distracted at the end, but overall a very relaxed and enjoyable meditation.

What I enjoy most about meditation is the peace. I think we all seek peace in life, yet somehow it can be so elusive. More and more throughout 21DMC I feel like I can access that peaceful place within me. I also enjoy the quiet and solitude of meditation each day, and the sense that I am getting closer to the person that I want to be.

Day 16 - 15 minutes

I like the stillness. Sometimes I feel life is rushing ahead of me and I'm not in control. So, I like the "Time Out" periods. It helps me regroup :)

Day 16 total 25 minutes. What i like the most is doing the sitting. Like too many things in life I have not stuck with it to make a habit, so for me the pleasure of simply doing it and seeing myself sticking to the this simple activity every day is hugely rewarding in and of itself. Then next best thing i get from meditation in the mornings is much more clarity and sense of purpose in my work. Like others have mentioned I sometimes get flashes of good ideas for work which is helpful. But just getting the quiet time on the mat in meditation is reward enough.

And i have to say I do enjoy being engaged in a group around the world, for whom we each do this for our own reasons, but in doing it as part of 21DMC we are also giving to our fellow meditators in encourage, and though being enough of us for Celes to run the challenge.

Thank you all - tomorrow's meditation is dedicated to all of you out there. Love and Metta to all !

What do you like about your meditations?

Makes me a little stress-free.

What do you look forward to the most during your meditations?

Clarity and getting rid of unconstructive thoughts.

If yes, how did your meditation go? What meditation did you do? Where did you meditate? How long did you meditate for?

Celes, today I was feeling a little tired in the bus, so I leaned back but sill was being an observer. I am not sure if it is still meditation (since I wasn't keeping my back straight) but in case it is. The time I observed while doing this is 17-18 minutes.

And I did some 3-5 minute walking meditation in the school campus.

Day 16: 10 minutes - Going Deep Within from Meditation Oasis (again)

Lots of brain chatter today - probably because I have a very busy day ahead of me.

I really enjoy the pause that meditation gives me, in my busy and over-programmed life. It helps me calm my body and my mind, and then gives me a grounded place in the center of my being, from which I can move through all I need to do each day. I can find that feeling inside again when I am feeling stressed or anxious. I hope to continue the practice even after the challenge, but I know it is likely I will not be as consistent when I am not 'checking in' every day. In any case, it will be a positive addition to my life whenever I use it.

16 minutes guided meditation for today .What I like most about meditation is that I feel so relaxed by the end of it. Plus the time I give to me for meditation is just for me and nothing or no one else .

Day 16: 20 minutes

I really appreciate the meditation exercises as I feel calm and relaxed during this time. I forget about time, tasks, problems and the checklists I normally have in my head. It's my "me" time.
I usually meditate in the evening, when I am feeling tired after a hectic day. After the meditation, I normally feel like I had an energy-boost.

Day 16:

Today I did another 30 min of yoga meditation. It was a good session and I think my body was just recharging a bit today. It’s been eventful couple of days and now was probably time for a little break.

What do you like about your meditations?

- how I can feel what difference it makes with my body, mind and spirit
- that I feel more connected to myself
- that I have a forum for just me to calm down, recharge and move on

What do you look forward to the most during your meditations?

To connect with myself and the spiritual world. To clear out whatever has been bothering me or if I’ve been working a lot and need to stress down. Most of all I look forward to the communication I seem to have with myself during the sessions. There’s always something to be taught or learned.

Hope everyone had a great weekend :D

Today I did 50 minutes! whoo!

What do I like about my meditations:
-The feeling of relaxation. Blotting out the world just to focus on yourself
-Being much more in tune with thoughts racing in your mind.
-Having a sense of progress: controlling these thoughts, shutting out bad habits, and learning more about myself.

What do I most anticipate?
-Having that moment to yourself to just relax. All about yourself, and no one else.

Day 16 : I did the 7 minutes yoga nidra meditation again, sitting in an archair in the living room this time.

What I like abour meditation is :

-a special time for and with myself
-as I meditate in the evening, it enables me to process the day and let stressing and negative thoughts go away before going to bed. It has increased the quality of my sleep.
-I feel more peaceful and grounded.

Day 16.

14 mins of yoga tonight. This is really interesting.

What I like about meditation is that it gives all these options. I can do so much to build my concentration, focus and my 'me time' :) Meditation also helps to connect with my inner self, my consciousness and Pray.

Day 16: I meditated for 20 min.
Meditation is like a box that you can enter whenever you feel really stressed or just need a little alone-time. A place where you feel peaceful and calm no matter how the sorroundigs of that box are like. I just love that quietness!!

Dear Celes,
What do I like the most about meditation?
I love the quieting of the mind and body. The centering.
You always feel refreshed and relaxed.
The sudden insights, the feeling of healing.
And the great variety-just about anything goes.
What do I look forward to most?
-Gosh, I'd have to say the quiet and solitude
-The building of an oasis where I can rest, refresh
I plan to keep up the practice daily if I can and to keep a little journal-this will keep me going back-just like with the forum.

Day 16: 15 minutes of just letting go...

What I like about meditation is that I feel more connected with the here and now, and the things surrounding. Just that moment for you, where you don't have to think (about what next, or what was), just be. Relax. Serenity. Bliss.
