It's 5 days left before 21DHL ends! (as of 17 Jan as I'm writing this). How's everyone doing??:dance:

Since 21DHL is a 21-day challenge, the 21DHL forums will be closed on 23 Jan, 11:59pm, GMT +8 (SG time) or 23 Jan, 8:59am for those living in EST. I've set aside the extra 2 days for everyone to regroup and plan their healthy living plans ahead.

Let's make the best out of this last week together!:dance:

Major temptation this week which I am resisting:

I am running a training course here in my company and the organiser
is bringing in morning pastries, lunch (sandwiches and fruit), orange juice, bowls of sweets and chocolates. Aggggghhhhhhhhhh!

I just have to refuse the lot except for a couple of sandwiches
and fruit. I can't afford to start eating sweets again.

The final temptation is that the monthly staff drinks are now on
this friday evening because we have international visitors.
I will need to attend but I will have to be very strict.

Celes,

Have you thought about topics for your next 21 day challenge? Maybe we could suggest some areas of our life for a challenge. Or maybe you could have a guest moderator for the 21 days?

What topics would others be interested in? I have been thinking about a Focus and Planning challenge to establish the habit of monthly planning, weekly planning, daily planning, reviews and establsh such habits as timeboxing (using a countdown timer) and auditing our time usage.

What areas of live are you, the reader, interested in?

So sad it's coming to an end :(

That said, I think I need a break from challenges for a while to absorb all that I've learned and put it to good use!

Many thanks for all your hard work Celes!! Of course I'll still be visiting the forum.

Hey Charles, thanks for the recommendation! I've some other plans after 21DHL, though not in the same capacity as a 21-Day Challenge or X-Day Challenge. If there are enough members interested in a Feb challenge on a common topic and someone else here is willing to lead it, I'm happy to set up a sub-forum for you guys!

(By the way not forgetting that we have the next run of 30DLBL in 1 Apr! Will any of the 30DLBL alumni here be joining for the April run?)

I will definitely miss the daily exercises and interaction.
My first instinct would be to wish for another challenge, but I think Glenn is right .
After two challenges without a break, I need some time to work on my goals, life books, healthy living guidebook etc. Time for action now

It would be good to have a ongoing Health thread on the forum so that we can continue to interact and post on our progress

I'm definitely interested. maybe not in doing all exercises again, but definitely updating. I'm confident that the Dec30DLBL will bring many positive changes in my life by then

Hey Ish! There's always the main Health & Fitness forums which all of you can use :D There's Tariq who started 21DHL late so I'm shifting his thread to the main health forums after 21DHL closes so he can continue 21DHL to the end.

Yes, I'd imagine that it's more of updating and using the tasks as checkpoints for the 30DLBL alumni :dance: It'll be interesting to see where everyone is by then (1/3 yr after the Dec 30DLBL)

Glenn, I agree. Doing the exercises and posting a daily update required a lot of effort!

Although the challenge will be over before I've fully recovered from my illness, I can just restart my fitness program next week. ;)

The two main things that I've gained from the past 17 days:
  1. I found the Zumba workout I love so much I'll do it for the rest of my life.
  2. I discovered that the foods I usually eat at my local watering hole have more calories than I suspected.

Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

Maji,

I've heard so much about Zuumba. Is the workout you do on DVD or have you joined a class?

Maji & Kwamise,
I've started doing Zumba regularly and found it to be a really fun way to stay in shape and be social with like minded people. They do have a DVD for sale and also a program on Wii Fitness (game system), but I joined a local fitness center that has a mix of classes including regular Zumba instruction. If I left it up to just doing it at home then I would sabotage myself by putting it off, but when I invest a little money and also have people who expect me to be there I find I commit to it steadily :-))

I will definitely join the April 30DLBL as I am sure to benefit from a second pass with an emphasis on doing the exercises I missed the first time around.

I think Glenn is right about having a break as the daily update does take time away from the goals I identified from December. I will wait and see what your ideas and I may play around with the challenge I suggested which is really making sure I work on some of my goals.

I still have your 2nd edition PEB e-book to read so my February challenge will be to read one article a day and put it into action

That's great! Sounds like you got it all covered Charles :D I'd also recommend that everyone do some unplugging, take what they learned from the challenge(s) and bring them all to life in the next couple of months! Otherwise all the discussion of taking action, reflecting upon reflections etc is really no different from junkie behavior!

For the upcoming plans I have in mind for TPEB, they'll definitely not be steering any one away from their goals nor require specific time/effort unlike 30DLBL / 21DHL which are task-based challenges. I'll share more in due time. Also I'm making plans a few weeks at a time now (vs. months ahead) because the site is growing so rapidly and I'm having so many ideas on what to do next that I'm just living in the flow and doing what the current situation best calls for. 2011 is turning to be a really exciting year for all of us guys, and we're barely 3 weeks into it! :D :dance:

Oh you are so right. I must confess I get a real buzz from interacting with others on this forum and talking about the things I would like to do. Yes I will focus on some results so I enter the next 30DLBL with some success stories to report.

The Personal Excellence community is certainly growing and becoming quite a global community. I look forward to meeting new people in the April forum and helping.

Me too! (Sad that it's coming to an end...) Even though I've been sporadic in attendance the last half of this challenge, my heart is still in it! And I too will really miss this particular smaller community. It -does- help to know that there's still the forum!

I'm not sure if I will join the April 30DLBL. I don't think I will be able to get anything new out of the exercises by doing them so soon after December. We'll see though. I might feel differently by the time it comes around. I will probably join the next 30DLBL after April since I think Celes says she wants to have them 2 or 3 times a year.

Celes, I am using a trial of MS Word 2010 and I noticed that none of the pictures in the workbook appear in this version. Also there are a few formatting problems. For instance some pages are in landscape mode which should not be. Pages 8 through 19 for example. Others with the newest version of Office are likely seeing the same problems. Just FYI.

That sounds great Matt. Do what you think is best and right for your situation. For sure if you don't think you'll get much value/benefit from participating so soon then it's best to spend the time/energy on action mode instead and actualizing all your goals. There are always other 30DLBLs in the year and I'm running them as long as I'm alive (which I'd presume is for another good 70-80 years) so plenty of time/chances to do it together and discuss about life I reckon.

Thanks for letting me know Matt. I didn't know that. I recommend to continue to use OO or LibreOffice for the workbook. The conversion seems to be a problem for different versions of MS.
