21DPC Day 14 – What are 5 Things to Celebrate about Your Life Today?

This is Day 14 of the 21-Day Positivity Challenge (21DPC) for Mar 2012. View all posts made during the challenge: 21DPC Overview.

21DPC Day 14 Question

There are many great things we have in our life. However, do we ever stop to celebrate them?

My positivity question to you today is:

What are 5 Things to Celebrate about Your Life Today?

What are the 5 Best Things in Your Life Today?

For those with Live a Better Life in 30 Days Program, check out Day 14: A Day of Gratitude too, on being a more grateful person.

Your Task:

  1. Reflect and answer today’s question(s). Write as few or as many words as needed to fully express yourself.
  2. Give thanks for those 5 things. As you get through today, give thanks for having these 5 things in your life. It can be as simple as giving gratitude to the universe. It can be being more appreciative of the item as you are using it today. If one of the important things is related to people in your life (for example, kinship, friendship, love), give thanks to them, by way of a simple thank you note.
  3. Identify at least one positive thing about your day. It may be something small or something big – as long as you deem it as something positive, it counts. If you have more than 1 thing to share, then by all means, go for it!

Share Your Answers!

After you are done, share your answers in the comments area.

If you’re doing this at the start of the day, you can post your answer for today’s question first, then work on your positivity task throughout the day, then return at the end of the day to share your results for your positivity task and your end-of-day positive reflection.

Check out other participants’ answers. Pick 1-2 participants’ answers and make a meaningful reply to them. Engage in the discussions. This is a group course, so let’s support each other in these 21 days!

Look forward to reading your responses!

First off I can celebrate the fact that I have a decent job. I am paid to do something that I enjoy on a daily basis, with enough challenge involved to keep me coming back. I also make enough to afford the things I need for life which is good. My schedule is one that I love, being weeknights with time off to sleep in or run errands during the day. My co-workers are awesome. In a lot of ways I could not ask for a better job.
I can celebrate the fact that I am alive. It is odd but in some ways it becomes a celebration of outliving my father, who died in a car accident when I was a young child. There are not a lot of black men who find themselves these days alive and well past thirty. Many get caught up in the street life and if they are not killed then end up in jail which might as well be death. On top of that many people are taken at young ages in accidents and unforseen reasons. I am blessed to still be here.
I can celebrate the positive people in my life. There are a number of folks that I have truly been able to count on given the recent drama. People who have given there time, energy, and some money to help me in my time of need. I can at best thank them and try to live up to the standard they have set.
I can celebrate the fact that right now both the Explorer and the scooter are running with full tanks of gas. In today’s economic enviroment that is a big thing. There was a time when I didn’t have a vehicle at all. Now I have two I can use for almost any situation. They complement each other well and make my life easier.
Lastly I can celebrate beer… just because in many ways beer is good for you.

The positive thing of today was that I started my Tuesday off by watching my favorite television program of the week, WWE Raw. I know some might ask what an almost 35 year old is doing spending his free time watching a glorified soap opera. I tell you that my week is not complete without the two hours each week following the action.

      Hi Derrick!

Yes, having a job you love *and* a good schedule that gives you the time and opportunity to do things you love in your free time is truly a thing to be grateful for! I spent the last 7 years in a job that brought me (and my family) an immense amount of stress. I am grateful for the experience because I learned a lot, but now I know what is important.

And hey, if your show makes you happy then go for it! I watch a lot of “shallow” tv shows that I am a little embarrassed of but they really help me get back in a cheerful mindset sometimes!

I am really happy that I am still breathing when I get up in the morning. I am thankful for having a loving and caring mother who will always be on my side on whatever I do. I am thankful for having the opportunity to find out about what I like in my life. I am happy to have friends to whom I can talk when I run into troubles. Lastly, I am happy to be curious, and to be hungry to learn more and know more. I want to celebrate these five facts of my life. The positive thing about my day is that I have a friend, with whom I can share many things, and that she enjoys my company. This is the greatest thing amidst all the difficulties that I am facing in my life at the moment.

Five things to celebrate about my life:
-I am healthy, and working to improve my health every day
-I have a comfortable home to live in
-I am intelligent and capable with plenty of potential to make an impact in the world
-I have people to share my life with
-I have a son, who is an exciting adventure to raise

Just writing these things out helps me be actively thankful for them. I think I show that I appreciate my health by working to improve it and respecting my body. I show appreciation for my home by keeping it clean and relatively organized. I show thanks for my potential by constantly learning and trying to do my best. I am gracious toward my friends and family by being a good friend/family member and sharing things with them. I am grateful for my son and keep my mind open and willing to accept the lessons he teaches me on a daily basis.

One positive thing about today: I did have some disappointment today but fortunately I had a good friend to talk it over with. I also sent an application/resume for a position and I am grateful to have the opportunity to do so.

Hi IQBAL, would appreciate if you can type in proper capitalization instead of all caps. It makes it difficult for other participants to read what you have to write. Thank you!
