Our 14-Day Kindness Challenge has been picking up some steam in the media!!!
Media Coverage We Have Received of the Challenge ♥
My Paper / 我报 (Oct 25, ’12)
Greeted in the morning (Oct 25) with a feature in the Chinese version of My Paper, a local daily! My Paper has a local circulation of 300,000 and is amongst one of the highly distributed papers in Singapore!
KISS92 FM ♥ (Oct–Nov ’12)
Headed straight to Kiss92 FM studio for the recording of my next segment, including an announcement of the Kindness Challenge, slated to be aired next Monday! (That’s Arnold and Jason above, reading their notes with great intent! )
For those late to the game, I’ve been invited to be a regular on Kiss92 FM, a hip and snazzy English-language radio station in Singapore, and my first episode on bucket lists just aired this week!
Update: For those who missed my Kiss92 episodes, listen them in the podcasts section, under the section for radio interviews.
The Kindness Challenge was mentioned in three episodes: (a) “Pursuing Your Passion” (Oct 29 ’12), (b) “Overcoming Procrastination” (Nov 5, ’12), and (b) “How To Handle Criticism” (Nov 12, 12).
938 LIVE, Local English Radio Station (Oct 29, ’12)
…right after which I got on the phone with Daniel Martin from 938 LIVE (another English-language radio station in Singapore), to talk about the Kindness Challenge and why everyone needs to take part in it! (I’ve previously been on 938 LIVE in August with Eugene Loh talking about bucket lists.)
The interview (about minutes five long) was part of the “Making a Difference” segment, which was broadcast four times throughout the day on Oct 29. For those of you who missed the interview, listen to the podcast on 938 LIVE.
UFM 100.3, a Local Chinese Radio Station (Nov 1 ’12)
And last but not least, while I was on my way out of the media building, I got stopped by a radio deejay from UFM 100.3 (a Chinese radio station in Singapore), who asked me if I was (Celestine Chua) the person running the Kindness Challenge!
I was like “Uh yes?? How did you know?? o_O” He then told me that he thought the Kindness Challenge seemed very interesting, and promptly invited me to be on their station next week to talk about the challenge!!! #humbledtoinfinity!
The interview has been confirmed for this Thursday, Nov 1, for the segment 不给一口叮! It will be 9am to 9:30/9:40am.
Update: The interview is now over! Listen to it in the podcasts section, under the section for radio interviews. Refer to recording titled: “Chinese Interview: Nov 14-Day Kindness Challenge (Nov 1, 2012)”.
Lianhe Wanbao / 联合晚报 (Nov 1, ’12)
Oct 29: I just got a call from Lianhe Wanbao, a local Chinese daily, and an article on the Kindness Challenge will be going up tomorrow! For those in Singapore, be sure to get a copy of Lianhe Wanbao today (
Oct 30 Nov 1)!
Nov 1: The article is out!! Page 5 of Wanbao.
Lianhe Zaobao / 联合早报!!! (Nov 13, ’12)
We are on the Nov 13 issue of Lianhe Zaobao/ 联合早报! It’s the largest Singapore-based Chinese-language newspaper with a daily circulation of about 176,000!!
Check out page 13 of the papers. It’s about the great success of the Kindness Challenge and how we have amassed over 800 participants around the world, hence proving that locals (and people around the world) are indeed kind. Thanks QH for the great coverage!
Asia One (Nov 14, ’12)
We got a feature on Asia One, talking about how the kindness challenge went viral with over 800 participants! It’s a refreshing change to see the local online media cover more positive news like this rather than sex-for-grades, man-pushes-elderly-woman off bus or ah-lian-argues-with-woman-on-train news, which are more negative.

938 LIVE, Second Interview (Nov 15, ’12)
Daniel Martin from 938 LIVE contacted me on Nov 14 to do a follow-up of the Kindness Challenge, as part of the “Making the Difference” segment. I shared the results of the challenge, the participant responses, and my plans moving forward.
The five-minute interview will be broadcast on Nov 15, at four different time slots: 6:35am, 11:45am, 1:35pm, and 8:45pm.
Update: For those who missed the interview, listen to the podcast on 938 LIVE.
Shin Min News Daily… Not
Sadly, we were actually supposed to get an article on Shin Min News Daily (journalist even wrote the article and confirmed with me and it was supposed to be out that very evening), but it got shelved away at the last minute—probably because they had other news stories they wanted to feature.
Oh well—that just meant it wasn’t meant to be, and I look forward to more great opportunities in the future with Shin Min or other media! :)
Thank you to all the media outlets for your support and coverage of this grassroots-led initiative!
