Thanks for writing this - more people should give it a try. I can't emphasize enough that you will have those thoughts floating up, and it takes a long time for them to slow down - but you continually gain benefit along the way. Be happy as you get better at just letting the thoughts go away...

One other thing I would mention as part of your #2 above - set a timer, and then doubt, then triple check it is counting down before you continue. If you don't doubts will creep up in your mind as you are sitting "Did I really start the timer?" "Seems like its been too long...". Make sure its going before you start so you can erase those doubts.

The way I deal with thoughts bubbling up (as I call it) is by just labeling them and then letting the bubbles "drift away". So if a thought about work comes up, I mentally label it "worrying about work" and that helps me to step back and let it go. May not work for everyone, but it does for me.

Thanks again!

Dear,
Meditation should not be an attempt to do something.
Such a highest stage should not be'obtained' but it is to be experienced.
This is just a journey inside!
Unless we are eligible,we do not get 'that'

Kindly do not take as anything against any theory.
My guru Sant Dnyaneshwar, in his teaching, says so!

Regards,

Madhukar
