PE New York City Meet-Up (Dec 31, 2011) – Pictures and Afterthought! :D

NYC Meet-Up, Group Shot Me and PE readers in a NYC Meet-Up

The NYC meet-up went ahead as planned, and it was a lovely meet-up! A *BIG* thank you to everyone who turned up! ;)

As opposed to the past meet-ups in London, this time we had a cosy gathering of 8 people, which enabled for more personal discussions. :D Despite it being arranged at the last minute (only 3 days before the meet-up), plus on New Year’s Eve to boot leaving most people unavailable, it was a very positive turnout! Our group was pretty diverse, with people from New Jersey, Washington DC, Spain – and even as far as from Hong Kong!! Below are some pictures I took for the day.

We met at Angelica’s Kitchen, a popular vegan restaurant in downtown Manhattan

My Review of 2011 (and Moving On To 2012!)

End of 2011 Review

I’m excited, guys.

I’m excited because 2012 is coming, and it’s less than 24 hours before that becomes reality (it’s Dec 31 as I’m writing this). I’m excited because I’m happier than I’ve ever been, and I can’t imagine what’s going to come next. I’m excited because I feel like my life has just started, and I’m discovering something new about myself and what it means to live my richest life every day. I’m excited because I’ve big hopes and dreams for 2012, and I can’t wait to see them unfold in the new year.

But first off, here’s my annual review for the year. Because so many things have happened in my life this year, I’m going to do a quick recap by way of a timeline first. This will be followed by a list of 2011 accomplishments I’m most proud of. After which I’ll share my top lessons learned this year, before I end off with my plans for the big year of 2012 ahead.

2011 in a Nutshell

If you’ve been following my blog and Facebook closely, the stuff below wouldn’t be news to you. Here is a summary of what I’ve been up to this year:

NYC Meet-Up, Confirmed (3pm on New Year’s Eve)

New York City, Times Square Me at New York City, Times Square, during Macy’s Parade (on Thanksgiving Day)

Thanks for your responses to the NYC Meet-up! ;) The meet-up has been confirmed, and it will be at the following location:

  • Venue: Angelica Kitchen*, a popular vegan restaurant in downtown Manhattan (website)
  • Address: 300 E 12th St (at 2nd Ave, East Village, Manhattan) (Google Maps)
  • Date: 31 Dec, Saturday (New Year’s Eve! ;) )
  • Time: 3pm

*Note that they accept cash only and no credit, so please bring cash along!

I apologize if the date doesn’t accommodate to some of you. It was tough selecting the date – While many of you have helpfully shared the range of dates that work best for you, it seems like everyone has different agendas which clashed with each other’s. So I decided to go with New Year’s Eve, both for the significance of the day (last day of the year, where crowds will be bustling in NYC then) and that it’s a weekend, where people will be off from work. I’m inviting whoever can make it to join in the fun on the day. ;)

I researched on vegan cafes/restaurants on Happy Cow and Google  before narrowing it down to…

NYC Meet-Up? (Before I leave for LA)

Merry Christmas 2011! :D
Me at a friend’s Christmas party in Brooklyn! ;) Mosaicing the people’s faces because I’m not sure how okay they are with having their pictures displayed publicly on PE

A very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Yule and Winter Solstice to all of you! :D

As those of you following my Facebook would know, I’ve been in NYC for the past month. Prior to that, I’ve been in Philly and Washington DC.

It’s been a great month in NYC (at times very cold though, brrr! Though the weather was much colder last year, so I’m grateful!), and I’ve really enjoyed all the sights I’ve seen and relationships I’ve built while I’m here.

My next step forward, in my US travels, is to go to the west coast, because that’s what many have recommended me to do. My first stop will be LA (very sweet PE reader Whitney has very kindly offered to put me up in her place while I’m there ♥ – thank you so much Whitney), after which I may be visiting San Francisco and San Diego. I’ll be taking the Amtrak from NYC to LA, which I imagine will be a feast in terms of sights and scenery I’ll be exposed to in the 3…
